Reichert presents congressional coins | Community Spirit
Title (Max 100 Charaters)
Yesterday Congressman Dave Reichert joined the 30 or so veterans in attendance at an early Veterans’ Day gathering at University House Issaquah at 22975 S.E. Black Nugget Rd. in Issaquah.
Congressman Reichert gave each veteran who attended a congressional coin in recognition of their service.
The congressman talked for about 30 minutes. He, then, invited questions, talked with veterans and presented each with a congressional coin. Jack Yusen asked Congressman Reichert why the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have lasted 11 years, when World War II only required five years of U.S. involvement.
Reichert explained that today's warfare is different because the enemy is more spread out, hidden and able to use advanced technology that is less expensive than ever before. The veterans in attendance seemed to appreciate both the question given and answer provided.
To wrap up the visit Col. Bruce Meyers thanked Congressman Reichert for his service on behalf of our community; the audience clapped and cheered.
